Welcome to the Website for St. Peters Methodist Church. As you will see we are a lively and welcoming Christian Community right in the Heart of the City of Canterbury. Although Canterbury is mainly known for its Cathedral, Methodism has also played an important part in the City since the 18th Century. Although we are a Church that very much looks to present and the future we are also proud of our Methodist heritage. In fact in St. Peters will be celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2011.
We believe our mission is to share the good news of Jesus Christ though word and deed. Our Church fellowship is made up of many different age groups and backgrounds that reflect the community we serve. We have a wide range of fellowship and study groups, and the Church Buildings are also used for many community activities.
With two universities in the City along with other Colleges of Further Education Canterbury is home to a large student population in Term time. St. Peters values its links the Universities through its involvement in the Chaplaincy Team and the work our full time Student Worker.
Being a City Church St. Peters is the largest Church in the St. Augustine’s Methodist Circuit which also includes Faversham, Stelling, Challock, Greenstreet, Whitehill, and Old Wives Lees. We also have two Methodist Primary Schools in our Circuit together with strong links with Kent College, the Methodist Independent Boarding School on the outskirts of Canterbury.
When you are in Canterbury please come and join in our Sunday worship and experience for yourself the warmth of our welcome. For more information about our activities, please do not hesitate to contact me. There is also a map showing where St. Peter's is located in Canterbury.
